A flat earther by the name of “Mad” Mike Hughes launched himself nearly 2,000 feet into the air with a stream-powere rocket that he built himself. Yes, friend. That sentence is a thing that was actually typed because it actually happened. These are weird ass times.
Hughes voyage took him to an estimated 1,875 feet in elevation before he came falling back to earth. Despite having two parachutes, Hughes told reporters he felt a little “clobbered” after hitting the ground. He also said that he was tired of people calling him a chicken after he cancelled a planned launch late last year, so he “manned up and did it” – apparently learning nothing from Marty McFly.
