Poultry-craving mountain lion spotted in Yucca Valley

(San Bernardino Sheriff's Dept.)

A mountain lion, who clearly has the munchies for some chicken, was spotted trying to feast on some poultry inside of a Yucca Valley a coop late Monday night.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was called to Avalon Avenue about 10:15 pm, according to the Sun.

The reporting party said the lion was trapped in a chicken coop, but the lion was gone by the time deputies arrived.  Police found that the cougar had killed one of the chickens before running away.

Residents are urged to contact law enforcement in the event of any future mountain lion sighting.  Authorities stress that while mountain lions can be dangerous, attacks on people are so rare that you are 1,000 times more likely to be struck by lightning.
