A guy who tried to rob a Fresno Starbucks while wearing a Transformers mask was hospitalized after a customer twice his age put his own life on the line to stop him.

Surviellance video recorded suspect Michael Florez, 30, pulling a knife on a Starbucks employee. Cregg Jerri, 58, can be seen grabbing a chair and then hitting Florez with it and then fighting him.

According to the Fresno Bee, both men ended up getting stabbed in the fight – which lasted about a minute. Florez initially got away, but was quickly spotted and detained. He tried to tell police he was a victim in the incident, but they quickly identified him as the suspect in the robbery. He was hospitalized for stab wounds.

Jerri was also taken to a hospital where he received staples to close a stab. wound he received during the fight.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer called Jerri a “courageous hero” during a news conference for putting his life on the line to stop the robbery.
