Cathedral City Police arrest man they say had 1,200 illegal fireworks

An Indio man was arrested Sunday night after police say they found 400 pounds of illegal fireworks in his car.

Officers checked an occupied vehicle parked in the parking lot of a gas station on Date Palm Drive about 9:30 pm. During their search, police discovered 1,200 illegal fireworks inside of the vehicle – including mortars, roman candles, missiles, bottle rockets, and firecrackers, according to a Facebook post.

The driver of the vehicle, Osbaldo Delgado, a 35-year-old Indio resident, was arrested for possessing the illegal fireworks, which is a felony in the State of California.

Officers also searched Delgado’s residence in Indio, where they say they found additional illegal fireworks.
