Palm Springs added 549 new residents in 2017, Indian Wells a whopping 25

The state of California added over 300,000 new residents in 2017, according to new estimated numbers released by the California Department of Finance and that included plenty of people in the Greater Palm Springs area.

The breakdown by incorporated city and the county is below.  Every city saw an increase in the number of people who live there – but, while some cities added hundreds of new residents (1,251 in Indio, 711 in Palm Desert), others  only saw small gains (Rancho Mirage 159, Indian Wells 25).

Statewide, Chino Hills led the way with a 4.6 percent population growth surge this past year followed by Dublin and Newark – and, don’t worry, I also had to look up where they are (both are located in the East Bay area).
