A person was struck and killed early Saturday morning on the 10 Freeway in Indio.
The unidentified person was in the freeway’s westbound lanes near Jackson Street when they were struck about 2:45 am on Saturday morning, according to KESQ.
According to the CHP, a motorist called police from their residence, saying they had struck a large unknown object on the freeway and continued home. The CHP initially reported a freeway closure due to animal remains on the freeway.

An investigation revealed the object to be a pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene.
