New Year’s Day – a holiday normally reserved for hangovers, the Rose Parade, and college football – has a new twist this year: it’s the first day you can legally buy weed without a medical card for your “glaucoma” *wink*. So, are you planning on buying some weed?
Even if you’re not, plenty of people are. A report from the cannabis industry research firm BDS Analytics estimated that cannabis sales are expected to hit $3.7 billion in 2018 and increase to $5.1 billion in 2019 as more dispensaries come online – since old-school thinking cities like Palm Desert were slow to figure out that it’s going to be a huge revenue generator.
If you are looking to buy in the Coachella Valley, forward thinking cities like Cathedral City, Palm Springs, and Desert Hot Springs have dispensaries that are ready to go on January 1 – just be sure to bring your ID and cash as, because the Federal government still hasn’t legalized, many dispensaries don’t take credit or debit cards.
Also remember, driving while high is not only illegal, it is dangerous and dumb af. Don’t do it. Instead, go get something to smoke, eat, or vape, head on home, partake, and enjoy.
It’s sure a hell of a lot more convenient than having to meet your dealer in the 7-Eleven parking lot when he finds some time.
