26 Images Proving How Wonderful (and Weird) Palm Springs Robolights Is

After a year away, Palm Springs Robolights returns on Thanksgiving night.

Robolights, a creation of local artist (and iPhone 6 destroyer) Kenny Irwin, was a Coachella Valley tradition for over 20 years (even catching the attention of Conan O’Brien) , but had to be shut down for a few years in 2008 because of neighbor complaints (I know, shocking to hear people complain in The Desert). The display returned, only to have thieves steal over a million lights from the property. But now, after a year off, Robolights will return this Thursday with a toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots.  It will then open every night until 2015.

Irwin’s display is a mix of holiday magic with just enough robots and aliens and weirdness to make it one of the most unique Christmas displays in the country. Here are 26 examples:
