Police arrested a 50-year-old Cathedral City man Wednesday for killing a woman he lived with.
Anita Mimie Cowen, 66, was unresponsive when she was discovered by police in the backyard of a home on Heritage Court late Tuesday night, reports KMIR. Authorities arrived to the home after a call from Cowen’s family saying that they heard a verbal and physical disturbance in the background during a phone conversation with her.
Officers were not able to revive Cowen and she was pronounced dead at 12:17 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Scott Edmund Pettigrew was arrested on suspicion of murder.
According to the Desert Sun, Cowen ran a business out of the home called American Medical Search.
