There are plenty of spots to grab a delicious hot dog, brat, hot link, and more in the Greater Palm Springs area. Here are the nine best.
Frankinbun
This Palm Springs joint was a locals favorite long before Guy Fieri filmed Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives there. The menu is stacked with gourmet sausages – including bratwurst, kielbasa, jalapeno hot links, and more. You can get your dog served up on a bun or get a little crazy and order the Chicken and Waffle – which is two chicken apple sausages wrapped up in Belgian waffles and served with maple syrup.

Bobby’s Detroit Coney Island

A family owned restaurant in La Quinta, Bobby’s brings “a taste of the Motorcity to the Desert” by serving Detroit-style all beef Coney Dogs imported from Detroit. Their chili is delicious and you should have it on everything – whether it be a dog, burger, or breakfast omelette.

Babe’s Bar-B-Que and Brewhouse

This spot at the River in Rancho Mirage has an extensive menu of barbecue items, steaks, and burgers – but they also have a couple of delicious sausage items: The Brewhouse Bratwurst (with grilled onion, applewood smoked bacon & Babe’s honey blonde ale rough mustard) and a Texas Tornado (a 1/3 pound jalapeno hot link, 4 ounces of sliced brisket, grilled onions, and spicy BBQ sauce served on a fresh French roll). Bring an appetite or a friend to split them with, as these two menu items are huge.

Tony’s Burger’s

This Cathedral City burger hotspot also dishes out a bunch of really tasty hot dogs – including:
- Coney Island Dog: Homemade All Meat Chili and Chopped Red Onions
- Chicago Cubs Dog: Sweet Relish, Chopped Tomatoes, Chopped Onion, Yellow Hot Peppers, and Celery Salt on top
- Tony’s Chihuahua Dog (Chopped Crispy Bacon, Homemade All Meat Chili, Cheddar Cheese, Chopped Tomatoes, Chopped Onion, and Sweet Relish on top)
Tony’s Burgers, 35903 Date Palm Drive, Cathedral City, (760) 832-7794
Burger Box

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, this Indio fave has a menu loaded with inexpensive and delicious burgers, pastrami sandwiches, “box o’ chicken” (!), and hot dogs. Be sure to wash down your dog with a date shake.
Burger Box, 81201 Indio Blvd, Indio, (760) 342-6631
Grill-A-Burger

Yet another tasty Coachella Valley eater featured on The Food Network’s “DDD,” you can find 15 great hot dog options on the menu – including the Bronx Dog (spicy mustard, grilled onion, sauerkrauk), Kansas City Reuben Dog (sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing), Cincinnati Dog (mustard, all-meat chili and Cheddar cheese), and the Dog in Heat (diced red onion, jalapeno peppers, pepper jack cheese, spicy mustard).

George’s Bar and Grill

This Cathedral City burger spot is not exactly known for their customer services – they do promise insults right there in the menu – but locals do rave about their burgers and their hot dog and chili dog, which you can wash down with a nice cold beer – so long as you “don’t poke the bear.”
George’s Bar and Grill, 68885 Ramon Road, Cathedral City, (760) 328-9991
Manhattan in the Desert

The bakery / deli offers up stacked sandwiches, a big breakfast menu, and, of course, some huge hot dogs that can be topped with everything from chili to pastrami to Philly steak.
Manhattan in the Desert, 2665 E Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, (760) 322-3354
The Lunch Box

This place can be a little bit hard to find, but you will be glad once you do (4.5 out of 5 stars on Yelp is pretty darn good). Not only do they have salads, sandwiches, and daily specials – they also have a great, all beef Kosher dog on a steamed bun for under 3 bucks. You can get that bad boy topped off with some chili, cheese, and onion for only a couple bucks more.
Lunch Box, 74868 Joni Drive, Suite 1A (760) 610-1136
