GRAMMY WINNING R&B ARTIST, MAXWELL, SERENADES THE COACHELLA VALLEY AT FANTASY SPRINGS

March 22, 2019 – INDIO, CA – Maxwell will perform on Friday, May 24 inside Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s Special Events Center. The “sexy ambassador of soul” will sing a mix of his earlier classic songs and hits from the “BLACKsummers’night” trilogy of albums.

Maxwell is a crowd-pleasing entertainer whose talents are recognized by a host of international music awards and nominations. He received 12 Grammy Award nominations and two awards at the 2010 Grammys, for Best R&B Album for “BLACKsummer’snight” and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for Pretty Wings also from “BLACKsummers’night”. During the same year, Maxwell received an Image Award for the most Outstanding Male Artist. His return to music gave fans a fresh, vintage sound, however he will always be the artist who brought classic songs like “Sumthin’ Sumthin’,” “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)” and “Lifetime”.

Maxwell’s music spans the genres of R&B, funk, neo soul and jazz. He released his debut album “Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite”, which sold over 2 million copies, earning him double-Platinum status and a Grammy nomination. His second album, “Embrya”, followed and a live album, “MTV Unplugged”, was next. A year later, Maxwell released “Fortunate”, a single written by R Kelly and featured on the soundtrack for the 1999 film, Life.
Maxwell’s ambitious ‘BLACKSUMMERS’NIGHT’ trilogy began with ‘BLACK’ in 2009 complete with his sultry smash “Pretty Wings.” The second installment, ‘SUMMERS,’ released in 2016 and named Pitchfork’s Best New Music, featured the 2017 Best R&B Song GRAMMY winner “Lake by the Ocean.” The two albums have earned Maxwell seven GRAMMY nominations and three wins, spanning 10 years.

The Brooklyn-born soul legend returns with new single, “Shame,” which marks the long awaited “blacksummers’NIGHT,” the third installment of his trailblazing trilogy. The music video for “Shame,” directed by famous film duo Bush + Renz, is a brilliant display of black beauty.

NIGHT will be released in 2019.
