A fight on Saturday at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning left one inmate dead.
Deputies arrived within a minute of the altercation and found an inmate down and unconscious at about noon, according to a release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The man was taken to the hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries on Wednesday morning.
Authorities are investigating.
