The $100 million dollar bike path / electric vehicle road / giant clusterfuck that is CV Link hit yet another snag on Monday as Rancho Mirage leaders put the kibosh on the only approved route through the city.
City officials had threatened to do so if the Coachella Valley Association of Governments went ahead with an environmental study that would include building the Giant Clusterfuck along Highway 111 or the Whitewater Wash – of which the city council of America’s Most Entitled City had rejected.
On September 28th, CVAG announced the study would include the rejected routes, which was followed by Rancho Mirage today sending an angry letter to CVAG and withdrawing the only route approved by the city council – which would run along Ramon Road.
“Now, there is no route in Rancho Mirage that is available to the CV Link,” Mayor Dana Hobart told The Desert Sun – most likely with some diabolical laugh and while petting a cat.
CVAG has vowed to continue with its study anyway – with Erica Felci, governmental projects manager for CVAG, telling The Desert Sun, “Our executive committee has directed us to study several options in all our cities. We are not at the point where we are voting on a preferred route.”
Hmmmm…maybe a giant bike ramp can be built so cyclists can just leap over Rancho Mirage while making their way from Cathedral City to Palm Desert?
