So you already know this – because you have eyes, a brain, and have been witness to the hundreds of thousands of people that show up every April to the festivals held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio. But, now it is official: Coachella and Stagecoach bring a shit ton of money to the Coachella Valley.
How much? The answer via KESQ:
According to a report by Development Management Group $403 million will be spent in the Coachella Valley during festival season by concert goers with the city of Indio seeing around $106 million in spending.
In total people around the world would be spending around $704 million to come to the desert for the concerts in April.
To put that $403 million number in perspective, The BNP Paribas Tennis tournament claims that it brings over $373 million to the Coachella Valley and $403 million is, well, $403 million is even more than that.
So yeah, the festivals are a pretty great thing for the local economy…no matter how much the snowbirds complain about the noise.
