Desert X 2019 runs from Palm Springs to the Salton Sea (with many spots in the Coachella Valley in between) from February 9 through April 21. Below you will find information on Going Nowhere and Executed Variant – a double-installation in Desert Hot Springs. We also have a complete guide to all of the Desert X installations that you can check out here.
What: Going Nowhere / Executed Varient
Artist: Julian Hoeber
Where: 12878 Eliseo Road, Desert Hot Springs
Note: if you are looking to avoid Desert X “spoilers” stop reading here. If not, carry on.
The Lowdown: You will drive through mostly residential streets to get to this Desert X installation – which is not too far from Ghost Tree, another Desert X piece. Going Nowhere is located right off of Eliseo with a sign right there on the road, so, yeah, easy to find.
Park on the road and then check out the structure created by Julian Hoeber.
And don’t just take pics from a distance. Take a walk through it to really take it in.
But wait…what is this trail thing going on? Why it’s a pathway to another installation on the site, Executed Varient.
Now, here’s the thing, when I dropped by Execeuted Varient was closed, but if you happen to hold your phone above the fence, you can see Hoeber’s work – which is a painted pool. Note: I am told by Desert X that there will be a chances to get up close and personal with the painted pool as the entrance will be open during select hours.
