Rancho Mirage, a desert village best known for hating anything and everything, is having an election for city council next month. Yes. You read that right. It’s in April. Oh, and it’s all by mail. Wait, what?
While most cities tend to have their election on…oh, what is it called…Election Day, the Tuesday following the first Monday of November, Rancho Mirage is instead holding their election for city council on April 10. Why April 10? Well, there’s really no explanation from the city – though one could imagine that more “full-time residents” are around in April than in November.
Not that it really matters since Rancho Mirage doesn’t even ask residents to leave their gated communities to cast a vote, instead holding an all-mail election – meaning that yes, they can have their cat fill out the ballot and then mail it in, if they want.
And while it is all very ridiculous, elections do have consequences. It’s why your commute through Rancho Mirage is going to suck forever, CV Link will never make sense, and Jennifer Lawrence can’t rent a house there.
So yeah, let’s all hope that cat makes better voting decisions this year.
