The brilliant minds of GoDaddy’s marketing department thought that Super Bowl viewers would get a kick out of an adorable puppy being sold as part of a puppy mill by a mean old lady. They were very, very wrong.
Go Daddy has pulled the ad that was to air as part of The Super Bowl on Sunday after an early release on YouTube brought about a huge backlash.
The ad shows an adorable little dog who goes on a long journey “home” – but, it turns out that “home” is a puppy mill and the dog is being shipped out – and all thanks to a GoDaddy site.
Animal rights activists called the spot inhumane and people with any sense of taste called the ad incredibly fucking stupid. GoDaddy will go with a backup ad instead on Sunday. My guess is that it will be a commercial highlighting cockfighting.
