Police arrested a boy just one day before his thirteenth birthday after they say he was involved in a hit-and-run crash and later leading cops on a short pursuit on San Bernardino streets.
Police responded to a call from someone who saw two people take something from their car on Monday afternoon, reports The Sun. Shortly after they arrived, a hit-and-run crash happened nearby. No one was injured in the collision and police spotted the fleeing vehicle a short distance away.
Officers tried to pull over they car, but the driver refused to stop, instead leading police on a short pursuit which ended with the suspect’s vehicle pulling into the parking lot of a business near where the events began.
An 18-year-old man and the 12-year old fled on foot but were not quickly detained.
The 12-year-old driver was arrested and eventually released to the custody of his mother. There is no word on if the 18-year-old passenger was arrested or how the boy ended up behind the wheel of a car.
