2 arrested, marijuana and firearms seized in North Shore and Indio Hills

Two men were arrested after searches were conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at three locations in the east Coachella Valley on Thursday.

Officers seized 14 firearms, a large amount of ammunition, and more than 1,600 marijuana plants at two locations in North Shore and a third in Indio Hills, according to the Desert Sun. The operation was part of a crackdown on suspected illegal marijuana cultivation sites.

Adolfo Garcia Jr., 27, was arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing an assault rifle.

Gerardo Chica Cabrera, 39, was arrested on suspicion of illegal marijuana cultivation and altering a serial number on a rifle.
