A 33-year-old Rialto man is dead after he police say he lost control and crashed a silver 2010 Nissan Sentra on the eastbound 10 Freeway west of the Desert Hills Inspection Facility Thursday morning.
According to the CHP, a significant amount of rain was falling in the area at the time of the crash. The man was driving approximately 70 mph in the #1 lane while other traffic in the area was traveling at 55 mph or slower due to slick roads and reduced visibility.
As the man moved from the #1 lane to the #2 lane to pass slower moving traffic, he lost control of the Nissan, then spun out of control and went over the south embankment and collided with a tree.
The man, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
