A three day weekend is upon us and in between noshing on beer & hot dogs and watching things go boom in the sky to celebrate America, you might be looking for something to do. Here are 5 things going on in the Coachella Valley – plus a bonus for anyone looking to cool off in Del Mar.

Old School Freestyle Fest
The 80s and 90s are back, at least for one night, as Spotlight 29 Casino presents The Old School Freestyle Fest featuring the Ying Yang Twins, Color Me Badd, Lisa Lisa, Tone Loc, C&C Music Factory, JJ Fad, Trinere, Nu Shooz, and Candyman.
The show happens Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Spotlight Showroom. Tickets are $40, $50 and $60.
Not Just One, But Two Rock Yards
The Rock Yard at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is expanding to two nights for the holiday weekend. Friday night will see Wanted, a Bon Jovi tribute on stage, while Saturday brings the Faux Fighters out to rock.
The Rock Yard is always free and will get started on each night at 7:30 p.m.
The Sandsational Summer Event
Spa Resort Casino is building some sort of giant sand-thingee from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and you can sip on frosty cocktails while you watch and listen to live music.
Admission is 10 bucks for adults and 5 dollars for the younger crowd.
Palm Springs Wet ‘n’ Wild
The waterpark is back on Groupon, so if you have been thinking about heading out to cool off – this is a good time to do it as you can save up to 42% on tickets.
Kenny Rogers
He knows when to hold ’em, knows when to fold ’em. He knows when to walk…ok, you get it. The Gambler is in town to perform at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Saturday night for what he says is his farewell tour.
Tickets will run you $29 to $69.
San Diego County Fair
It is the last weekend of the San Diego County Fair. If you are looking to cool off from the desert heat, take a spin on some rides, and eat deep-fried everything – you can do it at a discount by grabbing this Groupon – which will save you 38% on tickets.
The fair, which is entering its last weekend, has a ton of 4th of July events lined up, including fireworks.
