It is time once again to celebrate America by taking some time off of work, having some hot dogs and beer, and blowing shit up in the sky. It also means that plenty of people will be hitting the roads – more than ever says AAA – so, yeah, pack some snacks and give yourself plenty of extra time to get where you are going.

AAA is projecting that nearly 43 million American travel this Independence Day weekend. It is the most ever for a 4th of July weekend and 5 million more people than traveled for the nightmare that was Memorial Day weekend.

“Spurred by the lowest gas prices since 2005, more people than ever are planning to travel this Independence Day weekend,” said Marshall Doney, AAA President and CEO.  “We are well on our way for 2016 to be a record-breaking year for summertime travel, this trend is welcome news for the travel industry and a sign that Americans are taking to our nation’s highways and skies like never before.”

Great for the travel industry, terrible for your patience while on the highway.

Good luck out there – and have a great 4th of July.
