It’s the first weekend of March and there is plenty going on in and around the Greater Palm Springs Area. Here are five things you may want to check out.
Boyz II Men – Friday
Motownphilly’s back again and, I am pretty confident about this, they’re doin’ a little east coast fling. The R&B group behind “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” and “On Bended Knee” will be performing mostly baby making music at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage Friday night. Tickets are $55 to $75.
(Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa)
Jazz and Swing at the McCallum – Friday
Davina Sowers and the Vagabonds and Squirrel But Zippers (yeah, remember them!) perform their high energy jazz and swing at the McCallum Theater on Saturday night. Tickets start at $27.
RWB Experience – Saturday
The annual Rhythm, Wine, and Brews Experience combines an afternoon of beer and wine tasting (with so many good beers!) with a nighttime concert. This year, the music portion is headlined by Stone Temple Pilots, The Psychedelic Furs, and She Wants Revenge. The event, which takes place at the Empire Polo Fields has tickets going for $99 for the tasting and the music. If you just want to see the concert, you can do that for $80.
(Rhythm Wine and Brews Experience)
Wildflower Festival – Saturday
Well, this crappy no rain winter means that we probably won’t be seeing a Super Bloom this year. Oh well. It’s still always an amazing sight to see the desert come alive as wildflowers bloom and transform the Coachella Valley into a colorful canvas.
The Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival, which is held at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center in Palm Desert, includes viewing of the wildflowers plus art, a kids zone, a 5k, and guided hikes. There’s also a beer and wine garden! Admission is free.
(Friends of the Desert Mountains)
La Quinta Arts Festival – Thursday – Sunday
The annual fest is back at the La Quinta Civic Center Campus. Over 200 contemporary artists will be exhibiting plus there’s live music, food, beer and wine, and more. Tickets start at $17.
Have an awesome weekend!
