The weekend is nearly here and, if your plans do not find you heading out to Redlands for an airshow with plenty of beer, you can head to Comic Con in Indio (yes, another Comic Con), a music fest in Joshua Tree, or sing along to “Karma Chameleon” in Cabazon. Here are five things happening in and around the Coachella Valley for the weekend of 5/19 – 5/12:

The third (!) Comic Con in the past 12 months in the Coachella Valley hits Indio this Friday through Sunday at The Riverside County Fairgrounds. Fantasia Comic Con will feature special guests, panels, and a cosplay contest. Tickets range from $16 to $30.
Now & Then
Films on the Great Lawn continues at Sunnylands on Friday with a showing of “Now and Then” – the 1995 flick starring Christina Ricci, Rosie O’Donnell, Demi Moore, Melanie Griffith, and more. It’s free to watch and you are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnic items for the outdoor screening. Gates open at 7:30, movie starts at 8pm.
Joe Walsh
The guitar icon and member of The Eagles performs a solo show on Friday at 8pm at Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella. Tickets start at $99 and top out at $139.
Boy George
The former Culture Club frontman will perform at Vibe inside Morongo Casino Resort and Spa on Saturday at 10 pm. All tickets are $30.
Joshua Tree Music Festival
The 15th annual spring edition of the eccentric festival runs from Thursday, May 18 to 21. Performers include Kraak & Smaak, Orgone, and House of Hamsa. A four day pass is $190 and single day passes (which start at $70) are also available.
