The weekend is almost here and, since it is going to be a hot one in the desert, you are probably just thinking about closing the blinds. turning up the AC, and binging on House of Cards – which seems like a decent weekend. And, should you decide to head out, there is plenty of stuff going on in and around the desert.
Cherry Festival
Beaumont is having its 99th (!) annual Cherry Festival Thursday through Sunday. The event includes a car show, rides, and live entertainment including Berlin, Brenton Wood, and Vince Neil of Motley Crue fame. Admission is $7.
Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Fest
This festival, running Friday through Sunday, features wine and balloons (of course) plus food, beer, and plenty of music. Here’s the roster:

Not too shabby. Advance tickets for the event, held at Lake Skinner Recreation Area, are $23 each for Friday and Sunday and $33 for Saturday (you can also grab weekend passes, wine tastings, and more).
Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival
Marlon Wayans
The comedian brings his stand up act to Morongo Casino in Cabazon on Friday for a 9pm show. All tickets are $29.
The Romantics
The band behind hits “What I Like About You” and “Taking in Your Sleep” perform at Vibe inside of Morongo Casino on Friday night at 10pm. All tickets are $20.
Block Party
Indio is having its 3rd Annual Discover Indio Community Block Party in Old Town Saturday night from 5 to 9pm. There will be a beer garden, plenty of food, a car show, kids activities, and live music performed by Band 212 and Sunday Funeral.
