The weekend is here and I hope you are in the mood for tacos.  Who am I kidding, you’re always in the mood for tacos.  Luckily there’s a taco fest and more going on in and around the Coachella Valley this weekend.

The 16th annual Spring version of the High Desert event runs Thursday through Friday and features Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles, Con Brio, Dirtwire, and more. There’s also art, activities for kids, food, drinks, and more.  You can grab a one-day pass for between $60 and $100 or a 4-day ticket for $220.

Modest Mouse – Friday

The band out of  Issaquah, Washington hits the Riverside Municipal Auditorium Friday night for an 8 pm show. Tickets will run you $45 – $85.

Taco Fest – Saturday

Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa hosts a fest dedicated to one of the greatest food items on the planet: tacos!   The event will run from  11 am to 7 pm and will showcase over 25 gourmet chefs and food trucks from across Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. Guests can devour $2 tacos made with chicken, pork, beef, seafood, veggies – or just about anything. Wash it all down with a margarita, beer, water, and soda. It’s $10 to get in and food is extra.

Mary Poppins in the Park – Saturday

Fans seem pretty stoked about the new Mary Poppins flick hitting theaters this fall, but the classic is still, well, classic!  It will show for the concluding film of Cathedral City’s “Movies in the Park’ series.  movie will be shown on Cathedral City’s Downtown Festival Lawn at 8:30 pm.  You can bring snacks or non-alcoholic drinks.

Earth, Wind, and Fire – Saturday

They’s sold a whopping 100 million albums and will be performing “Boogie Wonderland,” “September,” and much more at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Saturday night.  Tickets are $49 to $79.
