Memorial Day weekend is here, and for many that means an extra day off of work! Unlike previous years in The Coachella Valley, the temperature won’t be 180 degrees during the holiday weekend – which means you can spend the day outside without burning to a crisp (though we all know that time will be here soon enough).
So in addition to hosting your own backyard BBQs, here are a few other options for your Memorial Day weekend in Greater Palm Springs:
Pool Party
What would Memorial Day Weekend be without a pool party? Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon is hosting one all weekend long. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday there will be drink and food specials plus live music.
R. Kelly
The artist known for “I Believe I Can Fly”, “Down Low”, and “Bump n’ Grind” takes the stage at Fantasy Springs this Saturday night (well, just so long as he does not get trapped in the closet for 33 chapters). Tickets range from $49 – $109 for the 9pm show.
Tribute Bands
You have a couple of options for tribute bands on Saturday as The Rock Yard welcomes Purple Reign (Prince) for free while just a bit up the road Spotlight 29 has The Troubadour Experience (George Strait) for $20 a person.
Craft Beer
Having Monday off gives you one extra day to enjoy a delicious craft beer this weekend! A couple of local breweries are even offering deals on Groupon to save you some coin (Check out Coachella Valley Brewing Company’s deal here and La Quinta Brewery’s deal here). You can also grab a beer at Babe’s Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse who is offering a deal on take out all weekend.
Memorial Day Air Fair & Flower Drop
The Palm Springs Air Museum will host their annual Memorial Day services to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country as well as their loved ones. Events include a fly-by and flower drop of over 3,000 red and white carnations from B-25 Mitchell bomber, live music, flight exhibitions, food booths, and a beer tent. Price is regular admission to the museum, which is $9 to $16 – active military and their families are free. The museum recommends brining your own chairs.
Have a great weekend!
If I missed anything, let me (and everyone else know about it in the comments section below).
