It’s the weekend – but, not just any weekend. Oh no, it’s a weekend with green beer, whiskey, and boiled meat! Of course, there are things other than just St. Patrick’s Day events going on including a huge arcade event, tennis, a free concert, and more. Here’s the best of what’s happening in and around Greater Palm Springs this weekend.
St. Patrick’s Day Stuff
There’s plenty of events going on in the Coachella Valley for St. Paddy’s – which all gets started with a performance by Flogging Molly at Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon on Friday night. The following day (St. Patrick’s Day), head over to La Quinta Brewing Company in Palm Desert for a fun parking lot party or check out some of the other events going on in town.
Tennis – Fri. to Sun.
The BNP Paribas Open comes to a close this weekend. As the event gets down to the finals, tickets can be, well, hard to come by but not impossible. As of me posting this amazing article, Friday tickets could be had on StubHub for $29, Saturday for $50, and Sunday’s final for $139 (info here).
Arcade Expo – Fri. to Sun.
Mari did a nice, huge write up on this event over here. The three-day event in Banning is family friendly and will let get your game on with over1100 pinball and arcade games…all set on FREE PLAY! Once you get in the door, no need for quarters, baby!
Thompson Square – Sunday
The multi-platinum selling duo has three number one hits to their name (“Are you Gonna Kiss Me or Not,” “If I Didn’t Have You,” and “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About”) and a couple of Grammy nominations too They’ll be performing at the Rancho Mirage Community Park’s amphitheater for free on Sunday night as part of the city’s free concert series. Gates open at 5 pm.
