5 things to do in Greater Palm Springs this weekend

It’s going to be April? Already? Yup, just checked and the calendar doesn’t lie. March just flew right on by and, to close out the month, this weekend has plenty of offerings in the Greater Palm Springs area. Here are five that aren’t a professional golf tournament (because watching golf live is incredibly boring).

Moonlight Hike in the La Quinta Cove – Friday

(Facebook)

It’s starting to get too hot to hike during the day, so check out a guided moonlit hike in the La Quinta Cove Friday night with Friends of the Desert Mountains.  Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp, 2 liters of water, and, I can’t believe I have to say this, closed-toed shoes.  The hike starts at the La Quinta Cove Parking Lot.  A donation is encouraged as well as registering in advance.

Cathedral City LGBT Days – Fri. to Sun.

The three-day event celebrating diversity will include a battle of the bars, live music, a bed race (!) , a pool party and more.  Things kick off Friday evening in downtown Cathedral City and you can check out the huge list of events at the link below.

Nelly – Saturday

He was originally scheduled to do this show in February, but it was postponed to this weekend – which makes sense, since now is the time “it’s getting hot in here.” The rapper takes the stage at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs for a 8 pm show – with tickets ranging from $39 to $79.

Kool and the Gang – Saturday

The “gang” has now been around for 64 years! During that time, they have sold over 70 million albums and their song “Celebration” has been played at every wedding you have ever been to and will continue to be on every playlist for every wedding you go to in the future. Tickets for their 8 pm show in the Spotlight Showroom start at $45.

Easter – Sunday

(Living Desert)

There are plenty of things going on for Easter including an underwater egg hunt, a skydiving Easter Bunny, and a tortoise versus the hare race. You can see everything happening for Easter here and, if you are looking for a good place for breakfast or brunch, check out our list here.

Have a great weekend!
