5 things to do (other than Coachella) in Greater Palm Springs this weekend

Lineup for the Rock Yard at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio

Coachella is here and while more than 100,000 people will head to the Empire Polo Club in Indio for the music, the food, the crowds, and the weirdness, plenty of locals will not. We have a helpful survival guide for this weekend here and below you can find five alternatives to the fest to check out around the Coachella Valley this weekend.

Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles – Friday & Saturday

Coachella brings out all kinds of unique things and this year that includes a pop-up of the popular Southern California chicken and waffles joint.  You don’t need a wristband to enjoy the tasty combo from Roscoe’s, which will be set up at Spotlight 29 and will run from 9 pm to 5 am Friday and Saturday night.  Most meals will set you back $20.

Cactus Fest – Saturday

Okay, so we’re a little partial to cactus-themed events around this here website – but, hey this looks pretty cool and any drive to the High Desert means your close to Pie for the People!  Cactus Mart’s annual blooming cacti festival includes food, a flower crown pop up,  live music, and, of course, cacti!

The Palm Canyon Theatre presents the musical comedy about a man who sells his soul to the devil to become a young, home run hitter.   There are performances at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday and a Sunday matinee at 2.  Tickets start at $32
