62-year-old dead after vehicle flips on 10 Freeway near Cathedral City

A Chula Vista man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash on The 10 Freeway near Cathedral City on Monday evening. the California Highway Patrol announced on Tuesday.

Dorian Zaentz, 62, was driving eastbound on the 10 between Date Palm Drive and North Gene Autry Trail when he lost control of his Chevy Tahoe about 5:40 pm, reports KMIR. Zaentz was driving at “a high rate of speed” at the time of the crash, according to the CHP.

The Tahoe came to rest on the center divider of the freeway after it flipped multiple times. Zaentz, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
