An 84-year-old man working for Walmart in La Quinta was injured on Thursday after a minor attacked him when, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, he tried to stop the boy from stealing two bicycles.
Authorities were called to the store at 5:37 p.m. after a report of a physical attack. The victim tried to stop a 13-year-old from stealing the two bicycles, but was physically attacked. The boy then stole one of the bicycles and fled, reports the Press Enterprise.
Deputies were able to locate the suspect near La Quinta Park at Blackhawk Way and Adams Street. The boy was arrested and booked into the Indio Juvenile Hall.
Paramedics treated the victim at the store. His injuries were not disclosed.
