Fox 5 News has apologized after using a photo of President Barack Obama as a suspect in a college sexual assault case.
The photo of the president appeared when news anchor Kathleen Bade said, “The only suspect in a sex assault at SDSU will not be charged.”
The station’s assignment editor acknowledged the mistake, but told The Times of San Diego that it really was not that big of a deal. “Yeah, there was an accident when they had an over-the-shoulder…It wasn’t on purpose.”
There was no immediate apology for the the error, but then 2 days later, Fox 5 anchor Misha DiBono read this statement:
“And we have an apology now. Friday night at 10 o’clock, we inadvertently used a photo of President Obama while reporting on a story about charges being dropped in a local case. We regret the error.”
