The Summit Fire has forced mandatory evacuations in Big Bear Lake. The brush fire is threatening 400-500 homes according to the Forest Service.

The fire was first reported at 12:25 p.m. on Sunday near Snow Summit Mountain Resort. The fire had grown to 75 acres by 4 p.m.

Fire crews have been fighting the blaze with air tankers and with crews on the ground.

The Press Enterprise reports that an evacuation order has been issued for for an area south of Pennsylvania Road between Knickerbocker and Georgia roads. An evacuation center has been set up at the Big Bear Convention Center.
