Santa Clara Police are investigating after a video was posted online showing an assault of a Vikings fan after Monday night’s game between Minnesota and the San Francisco 49ers.
The attack took place shortly after the 49ers beat the Vikings 20 to 3 at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium.
The video shows a Vikings fan getting beat by 49er fans. When security guards and other fans intervene the attackers are kept away and the man in the Vikings jersey gets up and walks away.
Police told KTVU that they were called about the fight, but by the time they arrived everyone had left.
Cops say they have been in touch with the victim after seeing the video posted online.
“The video helps us tremendously,” police Lt. Kurt Clarke told KTVU. “Obviously you can see the video and see what happened–it’s not really open to interpretation. Our message is simple — acts like this will just not be tolerated at Levi’s stadium or in the city of Santa Clara.”
