A man drove through Banning on Saturday shooting at random people leaving 2 people dead and 2 hospitalized, according to authorities.
“We don’t know what his state of mind was. We don’t know what his motive was,” Banning Police Chief Alez Diaz said at a news conference Saturday evening reports the Press Enterprise.
“I understand it was a random shooting,” Banning Mayor Pro Tem Art Welch said.
Welch said there may have been four separate locations involved in the attack, reports the LA Times.

The first shooting was reported at 11:36 a.m. in the 700 block of John Street, near Hargrave Street. A male was found dead inside a vehicle, Diaz said. A passenger also was injured and was taken to the hospital.
At the scene there, a Cadillac was surrounded by police tape hours after the shooting.
The next vehicle-to-vehicle shooting was reported at 11:43 a.m. at San Gorgonio Avenue and Nicolet Street, about a mile west and north from the first scene. A victim was injured by glass fragments, Diaz said.
At 11:53 a.m., a man reported a physical assault at the am/pm market at 22nd and Ramsey streets, 2 1/2 miles west. Police say they have video of the assault and believe it is linked to the shootings.
At 12:13 p.m., a body was found in a truck that was crashed in the 200 block of East Lincoln Street, near San Gorgonio Avenue. Police are not sure if this is linked to the shootings.
A block-long section of Lincoln was closed off by police tape Saturday afternoon as the wrecked truck sat facing south in the middle of the street.
At 12:22 p.m., Beaumont police stopped a white SUV matching the vehicle involved in the shooting. A suspect was arrested without incident.
The suspect was arrested in Beaumont and was heard asking about his children during his crimes:
Police say the man was heard asking where his children were on multiple occasions during the crimes, but no victims are related to him.

The names of the victims have not been released nor has the name of the suspect, but Joe Galli reports that he is a Hispanic male:
