Border Patrol agents are out with details and photos of their latest bust – over 50 pounds of meth and cocaine in a the fuel tank of a woman’s Mercedes Benz which, up until now, was a feature of the luxury automobile none of us knew about.
The bust happened at the Highway 86 checkpoint Thursday morning, at around 7 a.m., when agents stopped a 33-year-old woman who was driving with a 24-year-old male passenger – both were U.S. citizens.
A drug sniffing dog alerted agents to the secret stash of drugs – which turned out to be 45 vacuum sealed bags of meth and one bag of cocaine in the gas tank, according to officials. No word on how much actual gasoline was in there as well.
As always, “street values” were given for the drugs:
- 52.2 lbs. of meth: $522,000
- 11.2 ounces of cocaine: $14,560
Both suspects were turned over to the DEA.
