Normally, it is best to try and avoid the awful traffic of the 91 freeway. For one upcoming weekend in February, not only should you stay clear of it, you should stay as far away as possible.
Transportation officials are now officially shutting down all lanes on a 6 mile stretch of the freeway in Corona, between I-15 to the 71, from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 until 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, according to the Press Enterprise.
Crews will be working on a new Maple Street bridge that can not be done while traffic is on the freeway.
The 91 freeway carries 280,000 vehicles a day, so this is going to be a bit of a pain in the ass – but, officials are trying to warn everyone with a “steer clear of the 91” message.
Officials are confidant that the freeway closure will work following the success of the similar “Carmageddon” freeway closures in Los Angeles in recent years.
