Hours after a woman was found dead in Indio, her husband died during a high speed pursuit on I-15 in Las Vegas.
Responding to a tip from a third party, police forced their way into a home on Lagoon Court at 9:50 p.m. – where they found the body of 54-year-old Donna Maltese, reports the Desert Sun.
There was no one else in the home and no sign of forced entry.
Maltese’s husband, Vince, was quickly identified as a suspect in the killing and regional law enforcement agencies were told to be on the lookout for his black 2015 Dodge Charger.
The car was spotted by a Nevada Highway Patrol sergeant shortly before midnight heading north on Interstate 15 near Sloan. The officer attempted to pull Maltese over, but he fled.
Additional officers used a spike strip on the 15 near Silverado Ranch and Maltese’s Charger crashed into a wall, reports 3 News.
When officers approached the vehicle they found Maltese, 52, had taken his own life with a gunshot wound.
