Recently, a couple of stories have circulated saying that Star Wars and Step Brothers were going to film in the Coachella Valley. These stories were, in a word: bullshit. But, that didn’t stop the fake news trolls from trying to dupe everyone into sharing their story because, hey, who wouldn’t want to see Will Ferrel or Chewbacca hanging out in Palm Springs?
Now making these things up is easier than I thought. It took me a whole 2 minutes to make this “article” about Titanic Part 2 on a fake story generator I found on Google:
At a distance it seems almost legit…read a little closer and, hey, MC Skat Cat!
By the way, this is really the biggest clue as to how bogus the article is – since everyone knows it is MC Skat Kat with a “K” and not a “C”.
But, for anyone who is overwhelmed with excitement about the sequel to a boat tragedy where pretty much everyone dies being filmed in their desert town, the story just seems to good not to share.
Why do people make these things? Well, some are trolls and others are exploiting the system to get clicks on fake stories to get a little bit of ad money or in hopes that you will like their Facebook page and forget that you did it due to a lie.
Bottom line: these things are probably going to continue as long as people keep sharing them.
Don’t be one of those people.
Maybe, share a Cactus Hugs story instead? Nah, that seems like a worse idea than Titanic 2.
