Did you find Monday’s near record high temperatures to be awful?  Of course you did!  122 degrees is insane!  According to scientists, there are about to be many, many, many more of these days.  But yeah, those politicians are right: global warming is totally made-up.

In a recent report, Scientists at the UCLA Center for Climate Solutions predict that the number of extreme heat days – any day where the temperature will be over 95 degrees – will grow by an additional 20+ days in the next 20-40 years and 40+ days in Palm Springs by the end of the century.  The rest of SoCal will also see the number of extreme heat days increase, as noted by this chart from the LA Times:

“A new season of extreme heat” likely lies in our future, the UCLA scientists warned.

Worse yet, even when things are supposed to be nice, they will instead be hot – with winters feeling more like how April felt in the 80s and 90s, according to the scientists.

As bad as it all sounds, the team behind the study say the heat can be lessened if there is a concerted effort to do things like control carbon emissions, installing rooftop solar panels, and relying more on public transit than gas-guzzling cars – well, unless you would prefer doing your Christmas shopping in 95 degree heat.
