A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in Victorville after he tried to carjack a vehicle from a teenager he had met on Facebook.
The 17-year-old female victim met 19-year-old Edmond Reliford of Apple Valley, on Facebook, according to the Daily Press. The two agreed to meet each other in person and spend time together.
The girl picked up Reliford and he began making inappropriate comments to her once they drove away. She turned the car around to drop him off but did not get far before he grabbed the steering wheel and told her that the car was his.
Both got out of the car and Reliford took the keys from the victim.
He was not able to drive away as Sheriff’s deputies arrived and Reliford fled on foot. He was arrested after a short pursuit.
