Heat records were matched or fell in the Coachella Valley and throughout Southern California on Monday. Palm Springs, Thermal and Indio all set record highs for the date:

Guessing here that Jerry meant 114 and not 144 in Indio in 1992, cuz that sounds awfully toasty.
Luckily, things will cool down a bit this weekend.
