A Morongo Valley man was taken to the hospital Sunday after he accidentally shot himself in the leg with the homemade pipe shotgun he was in the process of making.
Michael Oneal, 31, was building the weapon – also known as a zip gun – when it went off and shot him in the leg, according to KESQ.
Oneal was taken from a residence on Cholla Lane to a nearby hospital. The severity of his injuries were not reported.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, in a press release about the incident, reminds the public that the manufacture of homemade weapons is not only against the law, but is also very dangerous.
