Social media threats made Thursday night and Friday morning against a Temecula High School resulted in a police response and hundreds of students going home for the day.

A Twitter account mentioning Chaparral High School in tweeted, “CLOWN MASKS, TEC-9, C4 PLANTED,” another tweet said in part “good luck surviving the new Columbine,” reports the Press Enterprise.
Deputies and K-9s searched the school throughout the morning looking for anything suspicious.
“We take threats like this very serious,” Temecula Police Chief Jeff Kubel told Patch. “We will be conducting a thorough investigation to ensure the person(s) responsible are identified and prosecuted criminally.”
Parents were allowed to pick up their children due to the threats – of which hundreds did.
