Amazon’s very popular Alexa device has been upgraded.
The Echo Show is now available for preorder and promised to do everything Alexa does – plus show you briefings and YouTube, make video calls, see music lyrics, watch security cameras, view photos, see weather forecasts and shopping lists, and much more. And you can do all of it hands-free.
The Verge was really impressed with the video chat function:
A feature called Drop In lets the devices connect instantly, without requiring someone to “answer” the call. This allows the Echo Show to be an always-ready, internet-connected video intercom that I can call from anywhere in the world using my smartphone.
The Echo Show is selling in black and white models and is listed at $230 (you get $100 off if you buy 2). It will be shipped on June 28.
