A San Bernardino man who claimed a “Government Mind Control Project” led him to kill a grocery clerk in 2010 was found guilty of murder, the San Bernardino County District Attorney announced Tuesday.

A jury found 35-year-old Junior Tejeda guilty of one count of murder and two counts of Robbery, according to the news release.

Tejada, who had just been released from prison 24 hours earlier, entered a San Bernardino market on November 8, 2010 armed with a shotgun and wearing a mask, the D.A.’s office said.

He asked the clerk to open the register – but before the clerk could even respond, Tejada shot the clerk, 45-year-old Amarjit Singh, in the head. He then fled from the store.

A year and a half later, he robbed the same market – which now had new owners. No one was injured in the robbery and he fled, but officers found him a few blocks away from the store hiding.

During his trial, Tejada represented himself and claimed the reason for all of his crimes was a “Government Mind Control Project.” He will be sentenced on August 11 and faces 54 years to life in prison.
