The good news: a portion of Highway 111 is being widened. The bad news: it’s going to take almost a year to make it happen.
A 1.5 mile section of the main highway running through the Coachella Valley, between Rubidoux and Madison streets in Indio, will begin to see improvements beginning in January of 2018, notes the Desert Sun. The project will cost $11.5 million and is expected to see a third lane added in each direction – which, when it’s all done, will be nice.
The project is expected to take 11 months to complete and there will undoubtedly be traffic delays.
