A short documentary filmed in Palm Desert is being screened this week at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival. The 14-minute film, one of just 55 shorts to be shown (out of nearly 5,000 films submitted) is about a group of Jewish Senior citizens who celebrate the weekly Sabbath (Shabbat) at the local Wendy’s fast food restaurant with Hebrew blessings over burgers and fries.

As man as 40 people take part in the weekly ritual at the Wendy’s on Country Club Drive, according to the New York Times. The film, titled “Wendy’s Shabbat,” was executive produced by Abby Myers, the daughter of Roberta Mahler, 88, who is the main focus of the film.

You can check out the trailer below and it’s really charming, from those who attend to the Wendy’s crew who sets up the tables for them.
