Robert Pape and Cristin Smith, who were found guilty of killing three people before setting their home on fire 12 years ago in the San Jacinto Mountains, were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday.

The two were found guilty on June 7 of the Sept. 17, 2006 killings in Pinyon Pines of Jon Hayward, Vicki Friedli and her 18-year-old daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Friedli. Hayward and Vicki Friedli were shot and their bodies were discovered inside their burning home. Becky Friedli’s body was discovered burned in a wheelbarrow.

The jury, which was composed of 10 men and two women, came to the verdict after 10 days of deliberations.
